Requesting Yoda data manager rights
Data managers that assist and advise researchers that use Yoda in a research project, chair group, research department, or faculty that you are affiliated with, can request data manager rights for Yoda.
If you have data manager rights in a community in Yoda, you can approve requests to archive data packages in the vault and publish data packages. Employees with data manager rights often also have group manager rights. In this case, they can also add users to groups, change their role, and (in some cases) create new communities and/or groups.
Please note that to attain data manager rights, you do not necessarily need to be a data manager, but we do require that the person getting the data manager rights in Yoda has knowledge of and a high affinity with data management. Centre for Digital Scholarship (CDS) offers free workshops on introductions to data management. You can request information on these workshops or request a workshop to be given via CDS. There is also a workshop specifically tuned for data management in Yoda. You can request information on this workshop or request a workshop to be given via yoda@universiteitleiden.nl.

When you have received data manager rights for your community, you will be able to access data of your entire community that you are assigned to, even if you have not yourself been specifically added to a research group (regardless of membership, the Yoda data manager can read all data in the community assigned to him/her).
The Yoda environment exists and is already being used actively
When Yoda is already being used by the group that you are affiliated with, and you want data manager rights, you can request these from yoda@universiteitleiden.nl by stating why you require these rights and for which community within Yoda.
The Yoda environment exists but not used by the group
When the research group you are affiliated with has never used Yoda before, you will need to request a community in Yoda. You can request a community at yoda@universiteitleiden.nl by stating for which research group a community has to be created, what the name of that community should be, a SAP number, and a person that will act as a data manager for that community. Please check with your own IT department to determine whether arrangements have been made to handle the costs of Yoda within your research group / department / faculty / university.
The Yoda environment does not exist, but is desired
If researchers in the group you are affiliated with want to use Yoda as a data management platform, but no environment exists yet for this group, then a new Yoda environment could be created for you. Please check the list of existing environments to determine if a Yoda environment already exists for your faculty / department / university. If one already exists, you will get a community within this environment (see 1.2). When one doesn’t exist, contact yoda@universiteitleiden.nl and request an environment to be created by stating the faculty, department, or university you work for, what the name of the environment should be, what the name of that communities within the environment should be, a WBS number, and a person that will act as a data manager for that environment. The Yoda team will then contact you further to determine whether your request is eligible for the creation of a new Yoda environment.
