Next Maintenance
On 14. Nov 2022 between 9:00 and 12:00 CET, we will perform network maintenance on the ALICE HPC cluster.
During this time, there will be network disruptions between all ALICE nodes, including the login nodes and storage. Jobs that were running prior to the maintenance and that do not need network access will not be affected. All other types of jobs are possibly affected.
Our primary focus will be maintenance of the network fibres and improving the network redundancy.

What will happen?
During this system maintenance, all hardware of ALICE will be moved. This means that ALICE will be completely offline for the entire week.
How does this impact me?
You will not be able to use ALICE or access your data during this period. In addition, we have to shutdown the entire cluster before the move starts.
While we do not expect loss of data due to this move, please remember to copy any data products from ALICE that you need to retain for your work.
Until when can I still work with ALICE?
Because we have to shutdown ALICE completely before the move, we will have to drain the entire cluster until Sunday, 03 Sept. 2023 at 16:00. A reservation is already in place, which will only allow jobs to run that can finish within this time frame. Longer jobs can be submitted, but will not be allowed to start. In addition, all running jobs will be terminated after the deadline. While not necessarily the case, it is likely that pending jobs will be cancelled and you will have to re-submit them.
In addition, we will take the login nodes offline on Saturday, 02 Sept. at 18:00. From then on, it will not be possible for you login to ALICE anymore and move any data.
When will ALICE be available again?
If all goes well, we expect ALICE to be available again on Monday, 11 Sept. 2023
