eduVPN (with ULCN)

eduVPN from Leiden University is the recommended way to connect safely with ALICE for users with ULCN credentials. After connecting with eduvpn as described below you can use your favorite ssh or RDP client to connect to the login nodes or open-ondemand on https://ood.alice.universiteitleiden.nl.

Many public Wi-Fi networks, for example those in trains, libraries or on a terrace, are insecure. Even your home network is not always well protected. Data you enter and receive on your phone, tablet or computer can be intercepted quite easily. Also, malicious people can redirect your traffic to a phishing website with the aim of capturing your password. EduVPN protects you against this and also allows you to access protected services outside Leiden University's network.

EduVPN is simple to install with a few clicks. When switched on, the VPN is usable for 12 hours before needing to be logged in again.

PC or laptop

1. Download the eduVPN client from the website.

2. Install the client on your PC or latop.

3. Login with your ULCN log-in details.

4. Click 'toestaan' so that a secret private key is transferred to the eduVPN client that is on your PC or laptop.

5. You can now safely use the internet on public and home networks.
